After being just mentioned, another arrives. Cosmic synergy? Or coincidence?

Subject: Re: list spam?
I agree with Andrei's comments. For example, yesterday's post from Geoffrey
Hubona was an advertisement for courses in R, which did not in any way
mention applications to the kinds of topic that are listed in the quoted
aims of the RadStats list -- they were purely "technical". There have indeed
been many similar advertisements occurring with increasing frequency. They
are not what RadStats is about.
My own reaction is simply to delete them, though it is irritating to have to
be bothered by them. Since, once someone is subscribed to the list, they can
post, it is not straightforward to suppress such postings.
Some of us are also subscribed to the list MedStats (which is a
googlegroups.com list, not a jiscmail.ac.uk list), where the list owner is
very strict about inappropriate posting, and does not hesitate very long
(after warning) before banning the poster (which can include banning from
re-subscribing).
It would be interesting to see what the RadStats list-owners think!
Best wishes to all,
Ted.
