The Department of Earth Sciences at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professorship in petrology commencing as early as September 2016. A PhD is required, and post-doctoral research, teaching or industry experience is desirable. Qualified candidates may be considered for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair. The research activities of the successful candidate will complement the existing petrology and tectonics research interests within the Department, while contributing to the expertise of the Department as a whole. Candidates with expertise in metamorphic and/or igneous petrology are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will develop a strong, externally funded research program, and supervise both Master’s and Doctoral students. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate level metamorphic petrology, igneous petrology, mineralogy and tectonics, as well as breadth courses.
