Dear Don,
Yikes! I acknowledge my failures at explaining evolution …. anyhow, I wasn’t so much drawing on Darwin as attempting to refer to complexity theory and fitness landscapes. Not doing too well at it, either.
To quote the great song title of composer and musicologist Nicholas Slonimsky,
“I owe a debt to Darwin. He made a monkey’s uncle out of me.”
I better stop while I am still well positioned on the family tree.
