For more than 40
years, the School of Design has advocated a dynamic integration of theory and
practice in its approach to teaching and research. Its professional training programs
include: bachelor in interior design, bachelor in industrial design, specialized
graduate diploma (DESS) in gaming design, DESS in strategic ecoconception, and
a “Design and Complexity” Master’s program. As a leading player in industrial,
economic and social innovation efforts in Québec and a great facilitator of international
debates on design, the School strives to make a vital contribution to
addressing the key issues of our times.
Since its creation in
1998, the Interior Design program has made an outstanding contribution to the development
of the discipline, advancing major innovation challenges and maintaining a
level of excellence in the practice of interior design in Québec and around the
world.
The School of Design is
looking for a full-time Assistant Professor to help develop its interior design
program.
Main duties
Teach
and supervise undergraduate and graduate students; be involved in research, publishing
and activities enhancing the institution’s reputation; contribute to the
institution’s administrative tasks.
Requirements

Bachelor in interior design, architecture or environmental
design;
· PhD., addressing issues related to environmental
design and experience particular to interior spaces (applications from individuals who have submitted their thesis or who are in the process of doing
so before the starting date may be considered);
·
Have the necessary skills for theoretical and practical
teaching in the School of Design’s and Faculty of Environmental Design’s
undergraduate and graduate programs, including supervising Master’s and PhD students;
· Provide evidence of at least 3 years of professional
experience, preferably in the interior design discipline;
·
Candidates must provide evidence of their ability to develop
graduate and research programs in a field related to the School’s development
areas, including innovative expertise in the design of interior environments--with
a social dimension based on experience, sustainable design and digital design,
and through their work contribute to the program’s national and international reputation.

Starting date
On or after January 1, 2016.

October 30, 2015, and must include an application letter, a resume, detailed
evaluations of courses taught (if applicable), an up-to-date list of
publications or achievements together with copies or descriptions of the most
representative of them, and a short outline of the proposed research program including
an explanation of how the candidate’s research interests complement those of the
School. Three letters of recommendation must also be sent directly to the
