Hi folks,
I hope this doesn't come across as a self-serving plug for my employer, but each year
Sheffield Hallam University runs a Learning and Teaching Conference for HE teaching
folks. It's not focused on SHU; the idea is that it's applicable (and hopefully
interesting!) for anyone in higher ed. It's about good practice generally across the
sector, and there's a range of speakers lined up from different institutions.
I'll be co-presenting one of the talks - based on the module I designed and teach,
'English as a World Language'. Details of the event, including my talk, and how to
register, here: https://blogs.shu.ac.uk/ltconference/. To be clear: this isn't a call
for papers; the lineup is now set. You'd be registering to attend and (if you like)
take part in some of the workshops.
And for anyone working in UK HE, as the website says, this event can form part of
your HEA Fellowship application. Presumably they mean this for anyone pursuing HE
Fellowship status, not just at SHU, though you might be best checking with your HEA
training person. To that end, if you're filing this as an expense then file it under
training, not research. I know for many people these are completely separate budgets,
and also that many people don't realise they've got lots of training money available
even if they've used up all their research money.
Hopefully see you there!
Dave
