The Department of Music seeks to appoint a Lecturer in musicology. Applications are invited from candidates within any relevant field of research but the Department’s preferred areas on this occasion are: Global and Diasporic Popular Musics; Ethnomusicology; Film and/or Television and/or Game Music. The postholder will undertake high-calibre research and will be expected to produce a full complement of research outputs of high quality for the next REF; the appointee will also be expected to apply for external funding to support their research, and to contribute to the Department’s Research Environment and Impact Strategy. The postholder will also deliver high-quality research-led teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Applicants are asked also to propose a second area they are able teach at undergraduate level; this may include any aspect of Western Art Music history and/or theory. The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake academic administration and to contribute constructively and positively to the Department and School’s overall aims and objectives.
