Dear Colleagues,
I am so glad to see David's post on this and second Teena's comment - over the past year I have been also approached by a number of colleagues (junior and senior) that left the list or heavily considered to for very similar reasons.
Kindness and respect always go way further, and the good news is that while not impacting the robustness of one's debate, they equip all involved parties with the opportunity to create and nurture a solid, healthy community worth being part of.
Thanks,
Daria

Well said David. Generosity of spirit and conceptual openness, as well as respect, is needed.
I was speaking to a PhD student and colleague only yesterday, who said she would never dare post on this list for fear of being ‘shot down’.
cheers, teena

For example, one subscriber — well known for expressing alternative views — received treatment that led to him withdrawing. Another subscriber made personal attacks on others. Such criticism has no place here. But the issues go beyond these few explicit events.
