The MRC Biostatistics Unit is concerned with the development and application of statistical methods in medicine and biology. This includes research into the epidemiology and aetiology of disease, the development of models of the natural history of disease, the design and analysis of trials of preventive measures or of therapeutic or prophylactic agents and the evaluation of medical technology, and the development of mathematical-statistical techniques. Much of the work of the unit is performed in collaboration with other council units and other scientific workers
Role Description
To lead on a range of projects at the MRC Biostatistics Unit and within the R&D department at Papworth Hospital. To act as the main point of contact between trail methodologists at the Biostatistics Unit and Trial practitioners at Papworth Hospital with regards to the design, data monitoring, analysis and reporting of academic / healthcare related research.
Inspired ideas for research for the next 3-5 years in the context of the work of the division.
To play a major role in the work of the research group and the Papworth Hospital R&D Unit, through the conduct of research, introduction of new ideas, dissemination of research results, support and training of others.
Contribute to the strategic development of the group and of the Division overall and contribute to similar at Papworth Hospital
To be a focal point for statistical expertise as part of the Unit's collaboration with Papworth Hospital.
You must have a PhD in Statistics to be suitable for this role, along with substantial postdoctoral research experience and be an experienced user of Stata or R.
