This is a good proposal. It seems to me that this will change the tone and feeling of the this, and it will encourage more people to enter the conversation.
A limit on the number of replies is easier to sort than counting the length of text. So I’m going to adopt your cutoff proposal: I will limit myself to two chances to respond.
