We invite contributions to a session on models for continental growth
(18e, details below) at the Goldschmidt Meeting (
http://goldschmidt.info/2015/ ) in Prague in August 2015. Apologies for
cross-posting, but we are circulating this invitation widely to
encourage people working on different aspects of continental growth to
contribute to the session.
The abstract deadline is April 2nd 2015 at 23:59 (GMT). Information
about submitting an abstract is here: http://goldschmidt.info/2015/abstracts

18e: Models for Continental Growth Four Decades On
Keynote – Taras Gerya (ETH)
Models for when and how the continental crust was generated developed in
response to the measurement of radiogenic isotope data on crustal rocks
and minerals. There is now a large number of such data, but still little
consensus of how they are best interpreted. Issues include the nature of
the geological record and its inherent biases, and the implications of
the peaks of ages that appear to be a feature of the continental crust.
This session welcomes contributions from diverse areas that may offer
new insights into the growth of the continental crust that might
include: constraints from seawater curves, erosion history, thermal
models and metamorphic history, changes in the thickness of the crust
through time, the composition of new continental crust and causes for
the onset of plate tectonics.
