Dear Friends,
I am considering a PHD in Design and I am working with a mentor. He suggested that I contact you to find some good candidate schools for authentic design, rather than applied science or applied art. He also warned me that I should be ready for a broad spectrum of choices, and that most likely some arguments could break out. I am prepared for all of the above and would be so grateful for your assistance in this. To give a bit of background, I am soon to retire from the US Army. I have already applied to two US Universities. I have graduated from the Army's Design and Planning school, School of Advanced Military Science, with a Masters in Military Arts and Science, I have a Masters in Strategic Communications from U. of Missouri J-School, and a Civil Engineering Masters from Missouri Science and Technology. I have been deployed on multiple deployments to several complex environments trying to solve wicked problems involving people, products, and processes, as a company commander, chief of plans, and division and corps planner. I feel I can contribute significantly to design and that my practices and experiences will be unique to the community of design. Thank you all so much!
