Hi Meg,
Can the alabasters (which were presumably relatively expensive, in a
country where a Bible translation was priced at "three fish" in the
seventeenth century) be used to give an indication of the relative
prosperity of certain churches/cloisters in Iceland?

I believe the English summary with the article below will be helpful, though not of course for English provenance! And I haven't been able to find any indications of what English port(s) they might have been imported from.
