Ken, Rolf, Salu, and Ranjan
Rolf,
The only solid reference to correlation so far! (Except perhaps in Ken’s references) - Can you please provide the citation 2 you reference?
Thanks!

This is good but stops short on citations.
And another one that draws from a repertoire of known cases by analogy — let's say productive abduction. This second mode of abduction is pertinent in design, because it can suggest what may be in the future.
Salu said:
Abduction, on the contrary, appears to be a very much of a contextual process. And, as such, it must be a very much of a constructive one too.
I think it is also an intententional process
Ken said:
One may use different forms for different purposes. In some cases, we wish to move toward a future that does not exist. In other cases, we may simply wish to know the state of affairs. In many instances of design, we simply need to know that something is the case about a certain material or process. When we are testing a material or process for which we don’t have full information, therefore, an aspect of design research may entail inquiries that resemble scientific inquiry. The next step is to find out how to use what we have learned.
I agree with Ken (and Ranjan)
Putting, context, intentionality, referencing, correlation, focus, abduction, evaluation, and adaptive memory together to support ken’s purposes (and Ranjan’s views about the formulation of abduction for designing) might be the subject of my next paper. Possible title - Design Research through A Theory of Design thinking. Any input or skepticism would be appreciated.
Best to All,
Chuck
