Dear all,
Today at 4pm Jonathan Fine will give a research talk on "Convex polytopes, Boolean bases and linear homology". More details below.
Best wishes

Convex polytopes, Boolean bases and linear homology
Jonathan Fine, Open University
Wednesday 14 January, 4 to 5pm, Room 306 Alan Turing
This research talk part has three parts.
First, a selective introduction to homology. Here, homology is a geometric way of constructing useful vector spaces. I'll focus on things relevant to quantum physics. Homology is linear when the dimension of the vector space is itself a linear function (of the structure of the object to which the construction is applied). This is related to locality in space.
Second, my recent discoveries relating to the linear homology. I focus on the combinatorics of convex polytopes. This should be accessible to maths graduate students. The geometry and definition of linear homology is still a mystery.
Third, I will review the second part in the light of the first.
This talk has connections with Gareth William's seminar talk on Tuesday 20 January.
