Hi Damian
We use Word processor element of the Libre Office suite (Writer) as
it's similar to Word but a cut down version. It has a few minor quirks
but we think it's much more suitable than WordPad as it does at least
allow them to add headers and footers with their name etc on each page.
We have it on the desktop as LibreSWriter. IT apply the relevant
policies to the exam account user ids to suppress the spellcheck (or
enable it where appropriate).
Hope that helps.

Hi all,
All the best in 2015.
I hope you are all sober by now [fortunately or not ;) ]
I’d appreciate your input/advice on how you go around this;
If a leaner is required to take an Examination on PC we are advising
them to use WordPad as this ensures that the spellcheck can’t be used
as it simply doesn’t exist in WordPad. But the disadvantage of this is
that also as a “bonus” there is no auto save in WordPad.
After discussions within the team we feel that if the learners are
using MS Word in lessons then we should offer this during the
Examination, too.
The trouble is that intermediate computer literate learner is able to
reinstate disabled spellcheck.
It could be disabled by renaming certain files on the computer but our
IT guys oppose this idea as the job takes double time and approach –
to rename files and to bring them back to original names after the
examination.
How do you do it, please?
Thank you for any response.
