Lecturer (Maitre de Conférences) position at Université de Montpellier – Géosciences Montpellier

Teaching profile:
The new lecturer (Maître de Conférences) will teach at the “Department of Earth, Water and Environment Sciences of Montpellier” (DESTEEM) at both undergraduate (Licence) and graduate (Master) levels. She/he will have in charge general geology, structural geology and tectonics courses. She/he will teach especially the analysis of brittle and ductile deformation at all scales and mapping of geological structures both in the classroom and in the field. A good knowledge of geological cross-section techniques and of stereographic projections is thus required. She/he will also be in charge of the organization and teaching of field camps.

Research profile:
Geosciences Montpellier would like to hire a structural geologist, whose research focuses on the understanding of deformation processes at various spatial and temporal scales through the analysis of natural objects.
The applicant will strengthen one of the following research axes of Geosciences Montpellier:
- the study of the rheology of the lithosphere and of the processes leading to strain localization in the ductile field;
- the analysis of the tectonic evolution of orogenic belts and/or sedimentary basins, with special focus on the 3D character of the deformation.

Non-French candidates who have an equivalent position in a non-French university or research establishment can apply even if they are not registered on the list of qualification aux fonctions de maître de conférences du CNU. To do so, applicants must provide to the President of the University all documents allowing establishing the type (full/part time; teaching duties) and duration of the employment contract. These documents have to be delivered and authenticated by the competent authorities of the country where the position was held.
