*Apologies for cross posting* (Message forwarded from Dr Rebecca Hillman, University of Reading)
The Film, Theatre & Television Department at the University of Reading warmly invites you to a special screening of Dr. Reina-Marie Loader's 'lived-documentary' entitled HORN, on 3rd December at 6pm.
HORN has recently premiered in Vienna, Austria and has been invited to several festivals, conferences and awareness events. The film draws attention to the social side of rhino poaching by challenging predominant assumptions that rhino conservation simply involves the protection of a species. It does so by foregrounding specific socio-economic issues facing rural South African communities situated in rhino poaching hotspots.
For more information on the film, please feel free to visit the website: http://www.cinemahumain.com/portfolio/horn/
Prior to the screening, Loader will briefly introduce the core issues pertaining to contemporary South Africa. Immediately after the screening there will also be a short Q&A session with the director.
The screening will take place in the cinema in the Minghella Building on Whiteknights Campus. Maps and directions are available here: http://www.reading.ac.uk/about/find/about-findindex.aspx
Don’t miss this chance to see a unique perspective on the rhino-poaching crisis - one which shines a critical, yet hopeful light on South Africa.
There is no need to register for this event - all are welcome - but for any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warm wishes
Becki Hillman
