Hi Katherine
The People Present in the Exam Room Notice (JCQ ICE booklet p 60) says staff can be in the exam room if approved - they have to have a clear role, one of which is to deal with any disciplinary matters, so I would say you could allow your tutors to be present for that reason.

Subject: Online testing
Hi all
Just wondering what the rules are in regards to tutors being allowed in the room whilst their students are taking an online test? We have a few challenging groups of students and our invigilator was wondering if we could allow the tutor in the room to help.
I understand that they are not allowed in the room for academic paper exams but was wondering if this is the same for online.
Many thanks
