Assistant Professor - Interaction Design
The Stamps School of Art & Design is seeking qualified candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in interaction design, at the rank of assistant professor.
Candidates whose research, creative work and teaching combine a robust array of the following will be given preference: primary creative practice in interaction design, HCI, or comparable discipline, with experience teaching visual communications and interaction design for multiple device types and contexts; extensive knowledge of current and emerging professional practices in interaction design with the ability to prepare students for career opportunities in the field; solid background in design theory and history and interaction design research; and demonstrated experience in socially engaged creative practice. Special consideration will be given to applicants whose qualifications and interests prepare them for active engagement with other academic units at the University and/or with the community beyond the University; who are open to collaborative/interdisciplinary teaching, research, and creative projects; and, who are well prepared to teach in a developmental way across the curricula and to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Candidates whose research, creative work and teaching combine a robust array of the following will be given preference: primary creative practice in user experience design, HCI, or comparable discipline, with experience teaching information structures and design, end-user functionality and research, and data-driven design techniques; extensive knowledge of current and emerging professional practices in user experience design with the ability to prepare students for career opportunities in the field; solid background in design theory and history and user experience research; and demonstrated experience in socially engaged creative practice. Special consideration will be given to applicants whose qualifications and interests prepare them for active engagement with other academic units at the University and/or with the community beyond the University; who are open to collaborative/interdisciplinary teaching, research, and creative projects; and, who are well prepared to teach in a developmental way across the curricula and to both undergraduate and graduate students
