Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of History invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in History when they begin their appointment and exhibit a strong potential for excellence in teaching and research, with expertise in late Medieval or Early Modern continental History, with a preference for the History of Christianity. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach graduate and upper-level undergraduate courses in Late Medieval (1200-1500) or Early Modern (1500-1800) Continental History. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide History classes on Medieval World and Medieval Culture if a Medievalist; and the Reformation, Europe in Transition to Modern Times 1450-1648, and the Age of Absolutism and Enlightenment, if an Early Modernist. The successful candidate will teach additional classes that will be cross-listed with the programs in English, Philosophy, and Theology; teach in LUC's Core Curriculum; pursue a successful program of research; and be willing to engage undergraduate students in research as well as to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
