In Gloucestershire we have one mobile van which is meant to have either satellite or, as a backup, 3G Wi-Fi.
Most of the time we have a connection which enables remote log in to our LMS - Alto. When we lose this we operate in back up - Assure - and then when a connection is available towards the end of the day the Assure log is emailed into HQ where we recover the data.
We have tried Soprano from our laptop with no success and so are aiming to take a tablet on to some routes to see if we can access Soprano through a different device.
Again, we would love to hear of success stories and how these were done!

Perth and Kinross have recently commissioned three new mobile library vans - which brings the tally to 4 mobile libraries to serve the local community, schools and care homes. As you might imagine, the terrain is quite tricky for driving (so we have gone with a slightly smaller sized vehicle) and have investigated Wi-Fi connectivity for all vehicles. Signal proves inconsistent across Perth & Kinross (even on the city route) but we are in discussion with the Council IT regarding connectivity and with supplier Icomera - MoovManage. Keen to hear from other libraries.

Good afternoon
We are still struggling with this in Essex but did trial the iMo system 5 years ago and it gave coverage in the most rural areas of Essex, at the time cost was an issue. At present we are awaiting delivery of 2 new vehicles, the connectivity is being discussed at this stage, hopefully a solution by the time of delivery...............

Subject: Mobile Library Connectivity
Dear Colleagues,
Here in Cheshire we have long struggled with the challenges of mobile network connections vs the topography of the rural landscape whilst running the Mobile Library service.
I am really interested to hear from anyone in similar circumstances who has alighted upon any solutions to ensure the most consistently reliable connection to their network in reaching out to schools and rural communities.
Many thanks.
