Hi Martin (QP145)
Thanks for the info. It looks like a good scheme and I genuinely hope it continues to work. In a perfect world there would be no regulators, no police, no prisons, no violence and no pollution. Let us be honest the intention of deregulation is not to free the regulators precious time so they can go about their more important business. This is how the idea is sold to us, like they are giving us a big warm cuddle. The intentions are framed by an ideological re-positioning from protection of the environment towards maximising GDP. I see this as a retrograde step, others see it as progress.
Just by the way - as an industry insider would you say it was cheaper and/or more effective than government regulation? I’ll admit I don’t know as much about this scheme as I should, and I can only go off my experience with other forms of deregulation. Building Control springs to mind.
Regards
Matt
