The Department of Geology and Geophysics at Louisiana State University seeks an outstanding individual with expertise is in the area of geochronology of sedimentary systems. Preference will be given to applicants who focus on understanding the age of sedimentary deposits or age distribution within sedimentary basins, have broad interests in topics including, but not necessarily restricted to, coastal sciences, earth history, basin evolution and energy resources, and whose expertise is complementary to existing departmental strengths. This tenure-track position at Assistant Professor level is intended to supplement two of our existing research strengths: Evolution of Sedimentary Basins and Earth Materials. Research in this sub-discipline may also build strength in the LSU campus-wide focus areas of "Conventional and Unconventional Energy Resources" (C&UR), "Coastal and Environmental Science and Engineering" (C&E S&E) and "Materials Science".
The successful candidate will be in the process of developing an internationally recognized scientific reputation, and will be expected to maintain a high-level, externally funded research program, mentor and support graduate students, publish in highly ranked journals, and provide leadership both on campus and beyond.
