New Seminar Series: 'The Author in the Popular Imagination'
I am pleased to announce the first event in this series, which is supported by the Celebrity Research Network at The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH) and the Oxford Centre for Life Writing. The series aims to bring together researchers from across the range of European languages and literatures, and the focus this year is on nineteenth-century responses to authorship. The first event will take place at Wolfson College, Oxford (Haldane Room) on Friday 14th November at 5.30pm.
‘AUTHORSHIP, FAME, AND POLITICS IN NINETEENTH-CENTURY BRITAIN’
Dr Tom Mole (Edinburgh): ‘Celebrity and Anonymity in Romantic Britain’
Dr Sandra Mayer (Vienna/Oxford): ‘Following the Primrose Path: Intersections of Literary and Political Fame in Commemorations of Benjamin Disraeli’
All are very welcome, refreshments will be provided, and there is no need to register beforehand. For further details on the speakers and on the series more generally, please see http://oxfordcelebritynetwork.com/2014/10/03/authorship-fame-politics-in-c19th-britain/ and http://oxfordcelebritynetwork.com/2014/10/03/the-author-in-the-popular-imagination-14-november/
