Dear All,
Sorry for the intrusion and the begging letter below but this is, I believe, a worthy geological cause!
Once again, the Imperial College Department of Earth Science and Engineering ‘Rockrunners’ are taking to the streets of London to take part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon. This year it is this Sunday, the 12th October. The Royal Parks is a 13.1 mile course through the parks and streets of London, starting and ending in Hyde Park.
This year we will be running for a very worthy cause – Rockwatch (http://www.rockwatch.org.uk/). Rockwatch is the nationwide club for young geologists; amongst other things, they (principally volunteers) organise trips to sites of geological interest, publish short books for teachers on geological sciences and, most excitingly perhaps, take rock and fossil specimens to schools in the ‘Rock Bus’. Basically, they are trying to encourage kids to become engaged with geosciences from an early age and they typically exist on small hand-outs from the Geological Society. The money we raise would go towards funding fieldtrips (which we all know are fun and great learning opportunities), and their thrice-yearly magazine. Just think how many future estate agents and HR managers we can save…
Please visit our JustGiving page and support this very worthy charity - every little helps! Here’s the Justgiving link, it would be great to raise some money to support young geologists-in-the-making!

Thanks and, as always, sorry for cross-posting!
