Good afternoon,
This is to remind you of the upcoming deadline (November 7!) for registration and abstract submission for the Tectonic Studies Group annual meeting 2015 in Edinburgh, UK, from January 6-8.
Over three days of presentations, the meeting will explore some core topics:
-The evolution of fluids and transport properties in deforming rocks
-Rock deformation in nature, experiments and simulations on multiple scales
-Earthquakes in the geological record
-Advances in regional geology and tectonics
However, the TSG community shares a keen interest in anything that deforms, so please consider submitting your contributions even if they are outside of these topics (there will be an open session)!
Edinburgh provides a great background for a gathering of our crowd, and we will make sure that there are ample opportunities to meet your peers and discuss all aspects of structural geology and rock deformation in pleasant and inspirational surroundings that James Hutton once roamed. The conference dinner will take place in Edinburgh's historic City Chambers with a spectacular view over New Town. The exhausting pub crawl to find the best location for the ice breaker is still ongoing (and might in fact continue through the meeting).
I am also glad to report that the workshops are all coming along nicely and will be a great opportunity to extend your knowledge on rock mechanics and hone your skills in digital field mapping and image analysis.
A website that compiles important information on the meeting is now online and will be continuously updated over the next weeks: http://tsg2015.wordpress.com/
Registration is through the Geological Society of London's website:

A carefully crafted flyer to advertise the meeting at your home institution can be downloaded here (as a pdf):

If you are a potential sponsor and feel that our young and aspiring talent should really be supported in showcasing their work, but are also interested in meeting the UK’s future research leaders, please get in touch to discuss the sponsorship options.
Looking forward to seeing you in Edinburgh,
