Dear all
You may recall a couple of months ago I announced that the Geological
Society of London were running a public nomination process to identify 100
great geo-sites in the UK and Ireland.
Well, today the list is announced, to coincide with Earth Science Week.
You can check out the list at the Society¹s web pages, including an
interactive (if slightly inaccurate) map.

Also report (and some stunning photos) on the BBC
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-29572008
There¹s a whole category on folding and faulting (and structural geology
features elsewhere too in the other categories).
In the coming weeks the web site will be opened up to allow further image
postings and discussions on each location.
The final list (and all the ³top ten²) is largely based on a public vote -
over 1200 people did this - using the full nominations gathered on Flikkr
and Facebook. If your favourite site isn¹t in the list - well - next time
get it nominated and voted for!
