This year's conference will focus on intersections of critical thinking and writing within the unfolding legacy of C.P. Snow's The Two Cultures and the Scientific Revolution. The conference begins Friday afternoon at 5pm with an opening reception. Dinner is at 6pm. At 7pm, we welcome Vaughan Turekian, Chief International Officer for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and Director of AAAS's Center for Science Diplomacy. Turekian, an atmospheric geochemist, will lead our Friday evening conversation, "Science Diplomacy: Critical Thinking and Writing Across the Academy and the World." On Saturday morning, Kathleen Blake Yancey, Kellogg W. Hunt Professor of English & Distinguished Research Professor, Florida State University, will deliver the keynote address, "Concepts and Practices in Flux: Critical Thinking and Writing Across the Disciplinary Cultures of the Academy."
