Dear Sutirtha,
we perform this test on this particular platform for at least 10
years. According to external quality control results performnce is
very good. However there are two issues involved:
1. From time to time we encounter prozone which we detect by
simultaneous determination of total urinary proteins. If one do not
determine simultaneously both of these parameters serious errors could
happen.
2. In comparison to other solutions for determination of urinary
albumins this method is quite sensitive. If you want to check that you
may compare BioRad urinary control insert sheets. However, we do have
24-h urine samples with concentrations below 5 mg/L marked with "G" or
"GL" flags in which we could not accurately determine albumin levels.
In spot urine samples it would not be a problem but when you multiply
such very low albumin concentrartion by large volumes you still may
get pathological values for which you can not be sure whether they are
correct or not.
Hope this helps,
