Postdoctoral Researcher in Design
The Department of Design is an internationally acknowledged design education and research unit. The department has a team of 40 researchers and about 750 students most of which study on postgraduate level. Its research foci are human centered design, constructive design research, cultural design research and sustainable design. (http://design.aalto.fi/en/)
The Department of Design is looking for a postdoctoral researcher whose research and teaching interests address human centred and socially responsible design. The researcher is expected to conduct high quality research in collaboration with the research teams at the department, in Aalto, with local stakeholders and internationally. The researcher will also participate the teaching of human centred design and socially responsible design on all the degree levels. The majority of work time will be allocated for research but about one third of the time needs to be reserved for teaching.
The position is fixed-term and will be filled for two years. The starting date is preferably as soon as possible but is negotiable. Salary will be determined upon competence and experience of the chosen person following the salary system of Finnish universities.
Qualified candidates for the postdoctoral position hold a doctoral degree in design or other field relevant to the position with adequate experience in design research. Applicants are expected to be at the early stages of their academic careers and show potential for academic development.
