Thank you for your suggestion.
I suppose when I'm finished I will no longer need to read anything else about communication or media studies.
Surely there's something those authors wrote that I missed, like, for instance something about the pragmatic results of typesetting a message in different typefaces or different colors. Or maybe they foretold something about motion graphics which I am unaware of. Or of spellchekers in wordprocessors. Or video games.
Sarcasm aside, I assure you I did not make that remark lightly.
I will get back to you (sooner than a couple of years, I hope) with a clearer explanation of what I meant about Saussure and Peirce. I will have to find a couple of references I can't place right now.
