The Music Department at the University of Bristol welcomes applications for
British Academy Postdoctoral Fellows. These career development appointments
offer three years of funded research at a UK higher education
institution. Applications
will be assessed internally and a selection made of the
applications we are able to host.

The University of Bristol application schedule requires a draft application
by 14 September 2014 and uploading of successful draft applications onto
e-gap by 17 September for further internal review and refinement. (The
British Academy's own deadline for applications to the scheme is 8 October
2014; its online application form is newly available at <http://egap.britac.
ac.uk>) You will need to register and select the relevant scheme from the
'Funding Scheme' link before you can download the Notes for Applicants.
Eligibility:
- The BA guidelines indicate that the scheme is open to three groups of
applicant: ‘British citizens; anyone of whatever nationality who has
obtained (or expects to have obtained by 1 April 2015) a doctorate from a
UK university; and EEA (European Economic Area) nationals (regardless of
whether or not they have a UK doctorate)’.
- If you already hold a doctorate, your degree needs to have been
awarded on or after 1 April 2012, the 'award' date being that of a
successful viva.
Following initial assessment, if we are able to host your project we will
assist you in the preparation of the final version before the October 8
deadline for submission to the Academy. By 14 September we require:
1. academic CV
2. approx. 300 word summary of your previous research
3. new research project abstract (120 words) and proposal (800 words)
together with plan of action (300 words) and proposed outputs (300 words).
