Jonathan - Another candidate for your bird is the grey partridge (Perdix perdix) which is often mistaken for chukar.

Subject: [ZOOARCH] Chukar partridge
Hello All,
Does anyone know of a good reference for identifying chukar partridge (Alectoris chukar) bones? I suspect I may have several in the faunal assemblage that I am analyzing. If you have a digital copy that would be great; if not, please give me the citation and I will try to get a copy. Thanks so much!
Best,
Jonathan
