Associate Professor (subsidiary Assistant Professor) of Service Co-Design
Applications are invited for a position within the field of Service Co-Design at the Department of Design and Communication, University of Southern Denmark. The position is available from early 2015.
The Department of Design and Communication has activities at SDU campuses in Kolding, Sønderborg, Esbjerg and Flensburg. The department offers study programmes and comprises research within the areas of design culture, language and communication, business communication, IT communication, tourism and library science.
The position will contribute to the new interdisciplinary research initiative SDU Design in Kolding that brings together researchers from the Faculties of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Engineering to develop new directions in design. Expect to collaborate with interaction designers, interaction analysts, design anthropologists, business designers etc. We build on a strong tradition of practice-based research and close collaboration with external partners. Research areas for the position include service design, co-design, design in public and industrial organisations, user studies and collaboration, interaction design. The position aims to expand current activities within tourism and library research with a design perspective. You are encouraged to describe the field of research you want to pursue.
Applicants must have a master degree in design and a completed PhD within the field of service design or interaction design. Applicants for the associate professor level must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant research experience after the PhD. As we work closely with public and industrial partners, applicants with experience from employment or close collaboration with such organisations will be preferred.
If there are no applicants qualified on associate professor level, we will fill the position with an assistant professor.
Assistant professor is a 3-year temporary position. This level requires a completed PhD as above. Applicants must state clearly in their application whether they are applying for an associate professorship or for an assistant professorship.
Teaching responsibilities for the positions relate to the MA in International Tourism and Leisure Management, the BA in Library Science and Knowledge Communication and other of the department’s programmes.
