DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT CHAIR
Overview
The Design and Management department chair is responsible for managing the academic and administrative functions of the department to ensure a relevant, challenging business and design education of the highest standard. In addition to being responsible for the existing degree, faculty, and students, the chair will work with the academic leadership to develop new programs at the Master’s level.
Responsibilities & duties
· Management of the department faculty: Ensure that there are qualified faculty to teach all courses in the department)
· Propose new elective courses and modifications to the required courses based on student and industry feedback
· Academic Advising: Advise students into courses and be the main point of contact for students
· Build relationships with potential faculty and guest speakers for the program; recruit faculty and guest speakers
· Contribute to student recruitment and increasing the visibility of Paris College of Art (PCA)
· Establish partnerships with other industry partners and other institutions
· Review the curriculum to bring the degree credit requirements down to 120 credits over the course of four years
· Manage the department budget
· Provide academic reports and other reporting necessary for accreditation
Work experience & skills
· A record of excellence in leadership
· Effective administrative skills, including management of human resources, budget planning, etc.
· An innovative approach to curriculum and degree structures
· Prior experience in U.S. style education preferred
· A strong vision for the Design and Management Department that contributes to the school’s mission
· Ability to deal effectively with students, faculty, staff and senior administrators
· Good organizational skills
· Ability to perform as a team player
· Excellent diplomacy and relational skills
Education:
A PhD in the social sciences or a terminal degree in design (MFA) or business (MBA) or a combination of work experience and degrees equivalent to a terminal degree.
Language skills:
Fluency in both French and English
Computer skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Type of contract: Open Term Hours: 14h/week (two days)
Salary commensurate with prior experience.
