Dear Fiona
Thank you for being sensitive and open. What I trying to do is
precisely to engage with the rationality paradigm (or dis engage) and
the re imagining initiative exploration at the school is that. Some
one from this list commented that what I am trying to do is -
philosophy of learning based on the essence of being as reflection of
humanity presumably based on integration of the foundation of Eastern
philosophy with contemporary educational paradigms. This may be true.
But what i am trying to do is to merge two ways of learning that i
have observed/ imbibed - one by the non literate whom i call as sense
cognites and my own education at the National Institute of Design (
critical selection)
There lots of common elements in these two ways.
1. Teaching is minimal, condition for self learning is maximum(total
in the sense cognite context and some what at NID).
2. Both are rooted in the present.(total in the sense cognite context
and some what at NID).
3. Freedom hence autonomy is respected (total in the sense cognite
context and some what at NID).
What i do not agree with design education in the Indian context are

I ask this question- suppose one was to have a school based on the
learning process of sense cognites how would it be. The attempt at
sadhana village school is that. (www.sadhanavillageschool.org)
A similar question can be asked in the context of design and
architectural education also. i have been attempting to address this
by developing few courses which i try whenever I get oppertunity
(which is very rare).
In this two things are to be done. One is to take students out of the
rationality frame work which is what get imposed by schooling. (I need
not remind you that contrary to many claims Indian education is
pathetic/ third rate on the whole)
Second is the address the authenticity in aesthetic sense. As you can
see the world will soon have one way of being in the world with
aesthetic and knowledge homogenization.
