Dear Collective,
After being contacted by a GP about a patient whose vitamin D levels were in the toxic range, despite not being on any supplementation, we have uncovered a couple of patients whose vitamin D is significantly higher on the Roche assay than by LCMSMS (approx 35-50%).
I have found 1 case report from a NZ lab where the interfering substance was hypothesised to be either antistreptavidin antibodies or endogenous biotin.
Has anybody else come across this type of picture or identified an interfering substance in Roche assay?
We will be asking for repeat samples as well as a full list of medications for these patients and getting Roche involved but I thought I would probe the ever informative collective brain first.
Kind Regards
