Kirsten completed a study tour of some of Australia's key libraries in October 2013 with the intention of learning about the process of building and maintaining collections around an international sporting event. Her study trip was intended to assist in the design of activities around the 2014 Commonwealth games that focus on reader development, education and engagement across the community. Hear how she prepared her bid and how she then visited libraries where the Commonwealth Games had been held, and how she has used this to help prepare for this year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Kirsten will be introduced by ILIG Chair, Ian Stringer who will talk about his experiences of international cooperation and collaboration.
There will be opportunities for meeting ILIG and CILIPS North East Branch committee members as well as networking with attendees from across all sectors of the profession.
Kirsten’s blog of her trip can be found online at http://travellinglibrarian2013.wordpress.com/author/kirstenmccormick123/
When not visiting Libraries in Australia or preparing for the Commonwealth Games, Kirsten works as a Librarian in the Mitchell Library, Glasgow.
