Dear friends/colleagues,
Apologies for cross-posting!
After a whole article in the International New York Times about the role
of education in addressing sustainability issues, particularly Climate
Change, the prestigious journal Science published a paper this month,
featuring environmental education, focusing on a desired Convergence
between Science and Environmental Education" and the use of ICT-supported
Citizen Science to address the current sustainability crisis.
It appears that major media and science journals are beginning to see that
education is vital in addressing some of these issues....
If you are interested in both the Science article and the NY Times article
please go to: www.transformativelearning.nl
Arjen Wals, one of the authors of the Science paper, posted a
press-release, description and link to the paper. For the NY Times article
you have to scroll down to an earlier post titled "Saving the Planet hurts
the local economy" - Climate Change makes its way into the world's
classrooms
I am not allowed to link to the pdf of the Science article but a link to
Science is in the latest post titled: "Education and citizen science; the
missing pieces in the sustainability puzzle, according to article in
Science Magazine˛. If you cannot get the paper through your library - send
me an email and I will see what I can do.
On behalf of the four authors,
Justin Dillon
