Apologies for cross posting

Hi

I am the Content Curator for the dementia charity The Memory Box Network, we provide a free online digital reminiscence tool and it’s my job is to identify and negotiate access to digital content that can be used within this platform. Content is used to help people and their families affected by dementia conduct their own reminiscence sessions, which have been proven to have a radical effect on the wellbeing of all involved.

What makes our system extremely successful is the accessibility to a wide variety of rich media content and its ability to filter this to suit the requirements of each individual. I am looking for potential sources of content and partnerships with museums, libraries and archives, as these are key to making this a very powerful tool for reminiscence.

How will it work? - In the first instance we are asking if organisations can provide digital copies of in living memory material (1920’s on wards) to include in the system for when it is launched in June 2014. We are asking collection holders to consider providing between 50 – 100 files (still/moving image, audio or text) that can be used and stored for users registering within the 1st year of roll out. We will then look to find ways of linking with the collections via a server based route allowing the system to draw down material based on the users preferences giving the users to access as much of the digitised collection as possible.

We only require the content to be screen quality; the system will automatically watermark content taken through to the user and their primary source identified. Usage will be monitored and statistic reports can be provided. Long-term development will be required and we see this as an important relationship for both sides, helping to increase access to valuable content for reminiscence work can have an immense impact in caring for people with dementia.

I can send more about the project if you like and it would be great if you felt you could help with content ...

Best Donna
