Dear all,
Thank you all for your advice. The consensus seems to be that running fluid triglycerides and cholesterol on whatever platform you have available is warranted but with a note of caution to the requestor about assay validation.
In this particular patient fluid triglycerides = 0.2 and cholesterol = 0.54 with no visible chylomicrons after centrifugation therefore unlikely to be chylothorax.
