We are happy to announce the first two of our great keynote speakers with cutting-edge views on design, development, and innovation:

Anne Stenros

Anne is the Design Director of KONE Corporation where she is globally responsible for the KONE Design (elevators and escalators). She also holds the position of an Adjunct Professor in Design Leadership at Aalto University School of Arts, Design, and Architecture.

Martin Steinert

Martin is a Professor of Engineering Design and Innovation at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) where his aim in teaching and research is to always push the boundaries of product development teams, so that they will ideate more radical new concepts faster. NordDesign 2014
10th biannual conference on design and development

Wed, 27 August - Fri, 29 August 2014
Aalto Univeristy Design Factory, Finland
Swinburne Design Factory, Australia

In the area of innovation, design and product development we quite often seem to know that something works in practice, but might lack understanding on the theoretical foundations. Many of the topical issues related to design, development, and innovation that seem to be regarded as “common knowledge” within the industry, are insufficiently founded from the theoretical perspective. On the other hand, results of academic research are often insufficiently disseminated to the industry. To benefit education, research, and practice, we are calling for evidence-based academic work on topical issues on design, product development, and innovation that strengthens both our theoretical understanding, and the connection between theory and practice.

The 10th NordDesign Conference – Creating Together – will be held in Espoo, Finland on 27-29 August 2014. Organized by Aalto University Design Factory and the Department of Engineering Design and Production along with with the International Design Business Management Program and Innovation Management Insitute in partnership with Design Society, this conference will bring together design, engineering and innovation experts from Nordic countries and internationally. The three-day program will include industry and academia leading keynote speakers, themed sessions with academic presentations and workshops with both academic and industry participants. Delegates will experience the atmosphere of Aalto Design Factory, which reflects the main theme of this conference, interdisciplinary co-creation.

NordDesign goes to Australia!

To celebrate the 10th NordDesign conference, we decided to provide an opportunity to be part of the event at almost exactly the opposite side of the world! Parallel to the main event in Finland, there will be a one-day satellite conference with a shared live session at Swinburne Design Factory, Melbourne, Australia.

Participants in Melbourne will come together to discuss, present and provide the conceptual and pragmatic foundation for our innovation community. In addition to the conference themes, insights into creating an eco-system in Asia-Pacific region including programs, projects, partners will be discussed.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the 10th NordDesign conference in Finland and Australia!
