Interesting - the wikipedia entry is very informative -
Doctors did once mark medical history FLK = "Funny looking kid" -
although this is maybe non PC these days, although the idea of an
intuitive sense that something is wrong has some basis (according to the
article).
I suppose a good example of a intentionally uncanny image would be those
famous androgynous sculptures of Akhenaten -
which invoke fear of the god king.
