Irene is VP at Udacity -- the company that produced the MOOCon Design of
Everyday Things. She is also a joint director with me of the Interaction
Design Foundation (in Denmark).
She used to do UX at Google-- at a high level. She believes in the mind, in
thinking, in emotion, in the real existence of colors, and all that fluffy
silly stuff. She also teaches Yoga. (At Illinois, she studied with two of
my human factors friends, Neville Moray (now retired in France) and Penny
Sanderson, now in the psychology department at The University of
Queensland, somewhere in that mysterious southern part of the world. Voth
neville and Penny beleive in thinking, colors, and emotions.

Here is her official bio -- from my contacts file
Irene led the User Experience and Design practice at Google, responsible
for the user interface design of Google-branded products. Prior to Google,
Irene was Vice President of User Experience and Design at Yahoo, where she
built the interaction design and user research practice, and led product
and platform design efforts worldwide. Irene began her career at Netscape
Communications, where she was an interaction designer and led cross-product
design efforts on Netscape's browser, mail/news client, and page editor.
Irene was first introduced to yoga at the age of 16 and recommitted to her
practice when her hectic career and passion for group exercise and fitness
led her to pursue yoga for its many benefits. Irene is a graduate of the
PURE yoga teacher training program at Equinox and completed the highly
acclaimed yoga teacher training program at Avalon Art and Yoga Center in
spring 2012. Irene draws on many styles of yoga, combining choreographed
flow sequences with proper alignment to make yoga challenging and
accessible. Check out Irene's classes around the SF Bay Area.
Irene holds a master's degree in human-computer interaction from the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Having received two full
scholarships to attend the University of South Carolina Honors College, she
earned a bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering and
graduated summa cum laude.
An avid advocate of Montessori education, Irene is a board member at Bowman
International School. She also aspires to make the perfect French macaron.
