medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
apologies for cross-posting
I have just added to my online archive over 100 photographs of the
Battistero di San Giovanni in Florence. I was able to get permission to
photograph with a tripod while the building was closed to the public, so
although I did not have time to document the whole building, I did shoot
quite a lot. I also got to try out a new 300 mm lens on details of the
dome mosaics. There are seven web pages, accessible from the index page
http://www.KornbluthPhoto.com/FlorenceBaptistery.html
As most of you know, this material is later than my primary research
area. The captions reflect what I have found in the literature, but as
always, I would appreciate hearing about any needed corrections. And
there is one image that I can't identify, a grieving figure in the Last
Judgment that I have simply labeled, "lamenting personification?". Can
anyone help with this?
best to all,
Genevra
