Dear colleagues,
Now that the official application is available, I would like to again share the following information about a doctoral student position in Geodynamics at the University of Helsinki. Students with an interest in geodynamics and numerical modeling are sought for a three-year fully funded project titled "What controls strain partitioning at obliquely convergent ocean-continent margins? 3D dynamics of crustal deformation along the western Andean margin" lead by David Whipp, Dept. of Geosciences and Geography, University of Helsinki, Finland. The project involves development of fully 3D thermal and mechanical numerical models of the western margin of the northern Andes to explore the relative influences of subduction dip angle, arc volcanism and plate convergence obliquity on strain partitioning in the western Andean crust north and south of the Talara Bend, Peru.
