Hi All
We don't let any teaching staff invigilate on their own. Exams organise independent invigilators for all exams - written or online. We allow teachers to be a 2ndry invigilator, only if we are short of invigilators, but always have an independent lead from our bank of invigs. Even UPK tests we organise invigs as when I started here many moons ago Hairdressing, in particular, took open book to mean we'll tell you the answers so you don't even have to strain yourselves to look it up!!!! Would you want your hair cut by someone who didn't know H & S regs and why you have to do certain things and follow certain procedures....I wouldn't!!!!
Not that I'm really cynical (maybe I am getting more so as the years pass) but wouldn't trust a teacher within an inch of my life!!!!! Their primary goal is to make sure the students pass at the end of the day and there are some who would bend regulations until they became a full circle if left "in charge".

HI Cath
No I didn't get this from C&G. But since Evolve started and having monitored the Evolve orders (how sad!) this is what I have found.
I also have a look at the qual spec.
If you look at the unit on the Walled Garden. Under the Description heading , for Full exam conditions you will see in the TYPE section:
Multiple Choice
[Inline images 1]
For Controlled Exams you will see in the TYPE section:Underpinning Knowledge Test
[Inline images 2]
Personally I feel that all Evolve exams should be under Full examination conditions and I struggle to see City & Guilds logic of some they do and some they don't when they both ultimately lead to a certificate.
If anyone can explain this I'd be very grateful. I did ask C&G but was basically told that that was just how it is.
Don't you just love them[cid:361@goomoji.gmail]
Cheers!

Hi Sue
That is interesting; did you get that info from City and Guilds? It looks as if we shouldn’t be letting the tutors invigilate if this is correct.

HI Cath
There was a very useful document when it was GOLA and when I asked if it it would remain in place when they changed to Evolve I was told NO. Not waht I wanted to hear.
An easy way of telling whether or not they are exams sat under controlled conditions (invigilated by tutor) or require full examination conditions(invigilator arranged by Exam Department) is as follows:
Take a look at the confirmation of the order on the Walled Garden and the field on the far right side named, "Booking Status"
If it says Booking Complete (for UKT), then it requires "controlled conditions"
If it says Booking Accepted then it requires Full examination conditions.
Cheers!

Hi
I know that this topic has been covered before but could I please get some feedback on who invigilates plumbing and electrical evolve tests in your centres. I have it in my distant memory that there used to be a document on the City & Guilds website that gave guidance on which tests can be invigilated by the tutors and which can’t but I cannot find it anywhere.
