I agree with Fi . I too would welcome an earlier deadline as with no results to wait for from the January by sending them earlier we would have a longer time to sort our seating out/planning for Invigilators etc because as always - students and some departments leave things to the absolute last day before giving any information and this will make them do it much earlier

Hi
I think it is a reasonable question. We are sending out entry lists early in January as curriculum staff will already know who will need to be entered. It just allows us more time for planning. I would welcome an earlier deadline as we no longer have to wait for January results in terms of re-sits, it also gives the students more time to pay for their re-sits.

Subject: JCQ Survey - don't you just love rigged questions
The latest JCQ Survey starts with a resonable intro from Nick Lait:
Dear Examinations Officer,
With the abolition of the January GCE AS and A-level examination series in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the abolition of the January and March GCSE examination series in England, the JCQ member awarding bodies feel it is an opportune moment to consider the entry deadlines for the June 2015 examination series.
When considering the entry deadlines for GCSE and GCE examinations, June series, we wish to engage with centres and seek their feedback.
You will of course need to liaise with Heads of Department or Faculty within your school or college in order to determine what would be a feasible date for your centre to submit GCSE and/or GCE examination entries to awarding bodies in early 2015.
We are asking two simple questions and I do hope that you can find time to liaise with teaching staff colleagues and respond to this important survey.
The responses received from centres will help us considerably when determining entry deadlines for the June 2015 examination series and indeed subsequent June series.
The closing date for this short survey is Friday 7 February 2014.
May I and my awarding body colleagues thank you for your assistance in completing this short survey.
But the devil is in the questions:
1. What would be the earliest date in late January/February 2015 that you would be able to submit your GCE entries, June 2015 examination series, to awarding bodies?
2. What would be the earliest date in February 2015 that you would be able to submit your GCSE entries, June 2015 examination series, to awarding bodies?
What is wrong with March 31st as at present with most boards? At best we are going to lose a month and you can guarantee that student options are not going to be firm at these points.
Still, it is nearly the weekend!
