Anybody who is interested in Bensley's 1918 rabbit atlas and
dissector....yes, it's true that GoogleBooks won't let individuals or
institutions who are not "partners" download the whole books conveniently
as a .pdf. However -- it did not prove impossible to excerpt the pages of
most use to zooarchaeologists, and I've made those up into a .pdf which
I'll send out to anyone who asks by return EMail.
Also, anybody wanting the Vindolanda tile-track paper, I have that also on
.pdf and the publisher's permission to distribute it. This paper contains
a good deal of information on quadrupedal/cursorial mammalian gait.
And finally: at long last, we have the Vindolanda research volume which
covers excavations in the 2nd-4th century Roman and post-Roman granary and
warehouse buildings. Robert M. Timm and I wrote up the small vertebrates
and it was more than usually enjoyable and productive because we got an
owl-pellet fauna. You have to love a bird that will go out and do field
collecting for you, two thousand years prior no less. I can't send you the
.pdf for this but you can obtain the volume by going to www.vindolanda.com
and look in their bookstore. Cheers -- Dr. Deb
