Hi Toni,
CRI is the Communication Research Institute.
http://communication.org.au
The email that went out from our mailing system was mistakenly also sent to the phd list. The phd email inadvertently got added to our (CRI) Newsletter mailing list and we failed to spot it in a routine edit check. For which we apologise.
The CRI Newsletter is sent out to people who voluntarily subscribed to our list. Anyone can subscribe and, of course, unsubscribe from our list. But those who have subscribed know they have done so, hence the heading with our logo only, particularly in this case, as we were just informing those who are in contact with us on a routine basis that our phone number has changed.
(It's an interesting aside to note that part of the reason for the change is related to our move to a non-telephone system as we do not need a landline. I wonder how long it will be till we do not have a phone number at all.)
Anyway, someone on the PhD list clicked on the unsubscribe link, and the email system we use sent a message to the PhD list informed it (The PhD list), that the PhD list was no longer a subscriber. This will ensure, among other things that our mistake will not recur.
This does not in any way affect your personal subscription to the PhD list.
Of course, if you would like to subscribe to our Newsletter, in addition to the PhD list, you can do so by going to:

Warm regards,
David
